Coues deer hunting is quickly becoming a passion among serious hunters worldwide. This beautiful animal respectfully earns its nickname the "Gray Ghost" of the Southwest. The Coues Whitetail (properly pronounced "cows", but almost everyone pronounces it "coos") is a small subspecies of white-tailed deer found in Arizona, New Mexico and Mexico. This deer has developed a reputation for being able to vanish from view in the smallest amount of cover. Many people consider Coues Deer to be the most challenging big game animal to hunt. Some even refer to hunting Coues Deer as the "poor man's sheep hunt" because of the harsh terrain invloved. The Coues white-tailed deer is on of the smallest deer in America. Coues Deer stand around 28-32 inches tall at the shoulder and measure about 56 inches from head to tail. A large filed-dressed buck will rarely exceed 80-90 lbs.
