To help you prepare for your New Mexico hunting experience, Blue Skies Hunting Adventures has put together this list of helpful tips and suggested hunting gear.

Helpful Hunt Tips

  • BE PHYSICALLY PREPARED: The better physical condition you are in the better your hunting experience will be.

  • New Mexico has very unpredictable weather in the Fall (In the early season it could 30 degrees in the morning and 70 degrees during the day. In later seasons it can be in the teens in the mornings and the 50's in the daytime.) Dressing in layers (including long underwear) is the best way to combat the cold.

  • Be sure your boots are broke in prior to beginning your hunt.

  • Mole Skin is a great item to keep in your First-Aid-Kit to help keep sore feet from stopping your hunt.

  • ARCHERY HUNTERS: Be practiced up on shots from many different shooting positions and angles, from 20-50 yards for the best chance at bagging your priced trophy.

  • RIFLE HUNTERS: Be practiced up at shooting from different positions and yards (200-400yds) for the best chance at bagging your trophy animal.  Also, be familiar with your bullets and bring extra.

  • Scent Killer - Dead Down Wind now has a liquid pack.
